Nature & Weather in Italian

Describing the weather in Italian is slightly different from English. You often use the verb "fare" (to make/do) or "esserci" (to be there).

Grammar Tips: Talking about the Weather

Using "Fare": Instead of saying "It is cold", Italians say "It makes cold" -> Fa freddo. Same goes for Fa caldo (It is hot).

Using "C'è": For things like wind or sun, we say "There is wind" -> C'è vento or C'è sole. However, rain has its own verb: Piove (It rains).
