Describing Things in Italian

Adjectives in Italian change their endings to match the noun they are describing. This is called gender and number agreement.

Grammar Tips: Adjective Agreement

Matching Gender and Number: If a noun is masculine singular (like il film), the adjective usually ends in -o (bello). If the noun is feminine singular (like la scatola), the adjective changes to end in -a (vuota).

Placement: Unlike English, descriptive adjectives in Italian often come after the noun they describe (e.g., "un libro interessante"), though some common ones like "bello" or "buono" can come before.
